Darren Lee is a professional drummer
from Adelaide, South Australia. Born in Manchester UK, he
began his drumming career at the age of 10 and at 13 emigrated
to Australia with his family.
With a broad range of influences, Darren has a unique style
that is versatile and adaptable. His ability to learn quickly,
play for the song and maintain a strong groove has ensured a
number of different studio and live projects throughout
Australia and more recently the UK.
Comfortable playing with or without a ‘click’, examples of
Darren’s hard hitting, dynamic style can be heard
here.
Bands and artists Darren has worked with include BB Steal,
My Scarlet Darling, James Gary, John Schuman, Ethyls Wreck,
Waiting for Venus and Kickstart, he has also shared stages
with international artists such as The Divinyls,
Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Scatterbrain, The Screaming Jets,
The Angels and Killing Heidi. With numerous sessions to his
credit, Darren has also been fortunate to have worked with
some of Australia's most talented producer/engineers including
Peter Blyton (Choirboys/Keith Urban), Andy Wallace (Ben
Folds), Brett Taylor (Special Patrol/James Gary), Tony Nesci
(The Mark of Cain), Anj Malavazos & Richie Robinson.
Along with his strong work ethic, Darren's passion for
drumming and music in general have made him an integral part
of any project he has been involved in either as a drummer or
songwriter. Having lived and played music in Australia since
emigrating, he decided to relocate back to the UK in May 2006
and is now based just outside London.
Going forward, Darren is looking to establish himself in
the UK as a solid and reliable drummer by giving 100% to each
opportunity that presents itself.
